Ongoing artistic collaboration

Together with the artists Moa Franzén and Kajsa Wadhia, Tove forms a performance trio investigating voice as choreographic material and method. The trio works with performance, curatorial processes and publications driven by a feminist critique and questions about how body and voice are interconnected in eachothers’ becomings. The trio had a premier of their latest performance work “When dancing was done with the lungs” at Weld, spring 2022. For the performance festival ”Revolve Corporeality”, the trio were curating the program ”Choreo-vocal dialogues”, a context in the intersection of feminist critique, choreography and vocality, presented at Köttinspektionen Uppsala. In this context their latest performance were also presented. Next performance exploration for the trio will happen in the spring and fall 2023 and goes under the title “MUTANT”, Weld, Moderna Dansteatern, Stockholm.

Spring 2023: Assistant Professor of Choreography at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH). Working with the MA in choreography programme “New Performative Practices”, and teaching, mentoring, leading freestanding courses, teaching feedback methodologies, departmental development among other. Has been employed in the dance department in various forms since 2012.

Since 2016 artistic leader, curator and founder of the platform Köttinspektionen dans, Uppsala. The programme initiates a variety of curatorial concepts and practices that experiment, in different ways, with dance and choreography as an art form, politics and relations. Tove is also a co-founder and curator of the annual performance festival ”Revolve Performance Art Days Uppsala” organized in collaboration with three culture institutions in Uppsala. 2022

Artist in residency at Köttinspektionen dans 2022. In the residency Tove continued to explore variations of the solo performance “Extension of your ear”. In November Tove hosted an informal sharing of the work at Moderna Dansteatern (MDT) in Stockholm, with the working title “Extensions of bodies”.

Launching the publication ” dialogue →”, initiated by Köttinspektionen dans, the third edition of the artistic documentation series made within Köttinspektionen’s curatorial program 2016-2021. ” dialogue →” marks the end of the project “the double solo mirror residency” forming a trace of the process with the invitation to enter into a dialogue with the ideas and scores it has left behind.

Presented the performance “When dancing was done with the lungs” by and with Moa Franzén, Tove Salmgren and Kajsa Wadhia, at Weld Stockholm.

Part of the curatorial team for the performance festival “Revolve Corporeality”, organised by Uppsala Art Museum, Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, Uppsala City Theatre and Köttinspektionen dans. 2021

As employed at SKH a member of the EU project ”Curating in Context”, a collaboration with Lokomotiva (Skopje), Zagreb University (Zagreb), Tanzfabrik (Berlin) and Stockholm University of the Arts. 

Sound installation ”From a throat of flesh” by and with Moa Franzén, Tove Salmgren and Kajsa Wadhia. Part of the exhibition ”De värdelösa munnarna” at Artlab Gnesta.

Presented the performance ”From a throat of flesh” in a swamp outside of Gnesta, as part of the 10th year anniversary of Artlab Gnesta. With and by Moa Franzén, Tove Salmgren and Kajsa Wadhia. 

Presented the solo performance ”Extension of your ear – a site specific lecture performance” at Köttinspektionen, Uppsala. Commissioned performance by the curatorial art collective HAKA for the exhibition HAPPIMESS by Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries.

2020

Work residency at Köttinspektionen as part of the curatorial series ”the double solo mirror residency”, a collaboration with Kajsa Wadhia.

Part of the curatorial team for the performance festival  ”Revolve fiction”, Uppsala. Organised by Uppsala Art Museum, Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, Köttinspektionen dans and Uppsala City Theatre. The whole festival was postponed one year due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Curated the interactive performance/reading circle ”The Blob: Spontaneous study blob, Circle blob, Want to read together ”- a winner of an open call by Mossutställnignar, at Mossans marknad in Värtahamnen, Stockholm. Collaboration with Anna Efraimsson/The Blob.

Performer in ”Jump with me!” a performance by Rosalind Goldberg. Presented at Inkonst in Malmö, Sweden.

Presented the solo performance ”This is not a performance” in the performance event ”Spring Cleanat Marabouparken Konsthall. Chosen from an open call by Marabouparken. Also performed at Weld in a program by ”Sunday Run_up”.

Presented a talk and performance lecture about artistic ‘problems’ at ARENA, a conference at Riksteatern, Sweden.

Presented the performance score ”Blobbing”at Trondheim Konstmuseum, in collaboration with Anna Efraimsson/The Blob. The score was a choreographed guided tour of the exhibition “This is a political (painting)”.

Performer in ”Jump with me!” a performance by Rosalind Goldberg. Premiere at Weld. Presented at Sophiensaele and Uferstudios, Berlin and Köttinspektionen in Uppsala, Sweden.

Presented the solo performance ”I pretend that you speak”, at the performance festival Revolve Performance Art Days, Uppsala. 

Maker of the score ”Blobbing”. A collaboration with Anna Efraimsson/The Blob, as part of the conference “The promises of monsters”, at Stavanger University.

2015  

Curated the ”Deleuze International Conference Dinner” as part of ”Daughters of Chaos: Practice, Discipline, A Life” which was the 8th international Deleuze Studies conference” held at Konstfack, Stockholm. The dinner was an installation choreography in collaboration with The Blob/Anna Efraimsson and PHD student Miriam von Schantz. 

Curated and performed ”We happen things” #1 and #2. A collaboration displaying works by Moa Franzén, Manon Santkin and Tove Salmgren (Post-MA degree presentations). At Uniarts and Fylkingen.

Performed ”Object and Speech” at CCAP, Stockholm, as part of the curated event ”Sunday_runup”.

Assistant choreographer for the performance ”På spel” by choreographer Malin Elgán. Premier at Dansens Hus, Stockholm. 

Invited to write a choreographic text for the anthology/publication ”Choreopoetic”, initiated in the frame of the artistic research made by Ewa-Cecilie Richardsen at Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Presented a text based artistic documentation of the performance “Leading Following” by Arena Baubo at MDT, Stockholm.

Recurrently artist in residency at MDT Sthlm 2012-15 with public showings of the process works: ”Handshow” , ”I pretend that you speak”, ”Circulate the material”, ”Object and speech”.

Author of the essay ”Den hegemoniska feminismen och dansen” published in Choreographic Journal #2, by Koreografiska Konstitutet. The essay have been used as pedagogical material between 2014 – 2017 at Department of Dance Pedagogy, SKH (DOCH).
